Nonstick cookware should last you a lifetime if you make the time and effort to use and care for it properly. So it’s essential to know how to clean a non-stick cookware, if you want to get the best from it. Here are some simple tips to ensure your nonstick cookware lasts longer.
First Use:
- Before using a new non-stick cookware for the first time, ensure it is washed with hot, soapy water, rinse well and dry it thoroughly with a soft towel.
- To ensure nonstick performance from the start, lightly coating the surface with any type of cooking oil, heat it, and wipe it clean;
Regular Use:
- Do not use metallic or sharp objects on your cookware; using such objects will damage the nonstick coatingand reduce the life span of your cookware. Instead, use scratch-friendly materials such as wood, rubber, silicone, nylon, or plastic.
- Never store food in a nonstick pan, foods that are acidic can damage the coating when left in the pan for extended periods.
- Avoid high heats when using your nonstick frying pans. High heat can wear down or blister the finish, as well as cause pans to warp.
- Avoid using cooking oil sprays because these usually have additives that can be too harsh for nonstick coatings.
Cleaning and Care:
- Ensure you wash your nonstick pan carefully and thoroughly with hot, soapy water after every use.
- Always allow the cookware cool completely before washing.
- Never use an abrasive scrubbing sponge or pads on your nonstick cookware;
- Careful storage is important for the lifespan and performance of nonstick cookware. We recommend storing your cookware on a hanging rack or you can safely store your cookware in a cabinet by layering a soft cloth – such as a kitchen towel – between each pot and pan. This protects the nonstick surface from coming into contact with metal, which can scratch or damage it.
