- Microfibre cloth -any other cloth will not give you the some results, and remember it’s your time spent cleaning, so the right tools saves you a lot of that time. Get a microfiber cloth so that no debris can cling to the cloth and to also aid fast drying and lint- free finishes.
- Get it sparkling with warm water – if your mirrors aren’t too dirty they can be sorted in seconds with a little warm water, applied and rubbed dry (in even, circular motions to avoid smears) with a microfibre cloth. If however there’s a little more grime involved, dilute some washing up liquid in a basin off warm water and use a sponge to wipe over the mirrored surface than buff away any remaining marks with a clean mirofibre cloth.
The unclean-able Mirror?
When no amount of cleaning works, the issue is probably the mirror backing and not the glass itself. Over time the silver nitrate and protective coating that back the glass may wear, causing the mirror to appear cloudy or spotted. You can test whether this is the case by shining a flashlight into the mirror over the affected area. If the backing of a favorite mirror is damaged, you can have the mirror re-silvered by a professional, or buy a kit from a home important improvement store and make it a DIY project.
